♦ Gliding: Ace can also bring up powerful breezy winds to send an object or person into the air (himself included) and can hold those winds so that a person can, in a sense, glide for about five minutes. Alternatively, he glides over enemies or over buildings.[/ul]
SUMMARY: A do-or-die philosopher who revels in a kill, he focuses on the now but gets sidetracked by a troubling past and senseless future.

[/ul]HISTORY: He had an average middle-class lifestyle. Parents he had issues with a few times; siblings he fostered rivalries and friendships with. He was a popular enough kid in school, but he didn’t want to pursue a higher education out of high school. Instead, Ace joined the military as a pilot. He shipped cargo and soldiers around the world, but never went into combat—and he was fairly content with that lifestyle. It was at that point that he got the nickname ‘Ace’ for consistently cheating at poker. It was a pretty fun time in his life, and he was enjoying it. Then the conversion happened, and everything was different. He lost touch with his family and assumed they were dead (though every once in a while, he tries to telepathically message them. It does not work.)
Ace soon realized that the world of endless possibilities was also a world of restraints. Despite this, in light of the need for energy he acquired, he adapted quite well. The first kill was mildly difficult, the second easier—the third was difficult all over again, since it was a woman—and by the fourth, he found that he could take a life with relative shamelessness and get by guilt-free. Because what was someone really living for inside of that hell-hole anyway? Even though he justified the murders (which increased in number as time went on) through lots and lots of thinking, eventually Ace found himself just plain enjoying the thrill, at which point he tried to just shake off the useless thinking—it did not work. He decided that even though the world they lived in was probably not fit to live in, he wanted to keep going to see if he could reach a state of mind different and content and happy, or at least enjoy the little sparks of joy along the way. After the first three years, he formed a small, tight-knit group of likeminded people—a hunt, or a pack, so to speak—who focused on survival in more…. unsavory ways. He is not constantly with them, but he and his “pack” have formed a sort of camaraderie. Still, it’s one of those things where if you leave the group, you might as well dig your own grave….
SEE THE LIGHT:
- Thoughtful – a double-edged blade of sorts; Ace likes to philosophize everything and anything, and often loses attention because of it. However, he muchly prefers action to thought or words, and his “thoughtfulness” doesn’t apply to many cases in a positive way.
- Thick-skinned – Not much bothers him. It doubles as being insensitive, but he could probably not care less about what people think about he and his ways. For that matter, it doesn’t faze him to see anything bad happening to others, either.
- Gentlemanly – He knows his manners and is quite polite until provoked or excited. But no one should ever mistake politeness for kindness.
- Crafty – as much of a deep thinker as he is, and despite not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, Ace has the gift of being cunning on impulse. He never plans things out, but his utter shamelessness makes lying and underhanded tactics easy to do on the spot.
- Man of Action – he hates the fact that he thinks so much, because actions are valued more than words in his eyes. And infinitely more so than just thoughts. He’s also big on being a *free spirit* despite the confines of a virtual world.
- Flexible & Adaptable – He changes quick given a dire situation. Similarly, he’s fine with being the loner or the party-header, the leader or the follower, the quiet or loud one. As long as he gets what he wants.
- Immoral – Ace has zero bearing on what is okay and what is not okay. Or, perhaps he does, but he’s just beyond the point of caring. This opens up a lot of underhanded possibilities and also makes it difficult for people to get close to him. And he suspects that it may be hurting him more than anyone else.
- Careless — he can be impulsive and reckless. If he wants something, he must have it—there’s no choice called “waiting” or “planning” though he may fancy musing over it.
- Not Very Well-Rounded/Horrid Problem-Solving Skills – If he can’t kill it, he doesn’t know what the hell to do with it. Any problems he runs into, he has a firm belief that it can be killed and done with. Sometimes, though, this is not the case, which confuses and frustrates him.
- Non-Committal – He can’t commit to anything. Even the group that he founded, he wanders away from it sometimes and comes back months later. Women, passing whims, friends—he can’t stick around too long or it stifles his *free spirit*.
- Holds a Grudge – He never lets a wrongdoing go. One annoyance and he’s out for revenge. This applies especially to this one person who wronged him in the first few years after the change. However, this person was also a quite skilled fighter, so he couldn’t retaliate, which only made Ace angrier. To this day they are still at each other’s throats on sight.
- Light areas
- Tall, secluded areas
- A healthy balance of being left alone and being with people.
- Stupid people. He just loves them. They’re not very useful or fun to talk to—meaning Ace can talk circles around them—but they don’t see through him, and they make him feel better about himself.
- Playing poker. A guilty pleasure from his past life. He can hardly resist a game, most likely because he is a skilled cheat.
- Traveling. He hates being in one place for too long.
- Perceptive people. They see right through him and they understand him and it bothers him.
- Challenges. If they’re too tough it only frustrates him.
- Having to wait. He’s pretty impatient, and he’s a go-getter.
- Physical contact. He never did get a chance at having a steady relationship or any relationship at all, in fact. Also, his parents were just not warm people. So Ace only recently discovered the magic of touch and human contact and warmth, which he quite likes. So he likes to hug and hold hands and pat shoulders, even if he doesn’t consider the person he’s touching in a romantic light at all.
- Music. As a child, he was forced to take piano lessons from a cranky old hag with a ruler. He hates sounds and noises and music.
- Finally having his wrongdoings come to light within his mind. Such a shock would probably kill him or send him over the sanity line…
- Death. Or painful deaths.
- Being completely alone forever and ever.
- Finding out that life wasn’t worth living ever, and that everything he did to survive was for nothing. He much values his life, but he’s still looking for the answer to the big question.
- Finding happiness
- Finding a person he can be around for a long period of time.
- Killing that person he hates.
