♠ The figure of the last remaining Virus fizzled out with an angry, defiant hiss that was cut short as it's form faded away to nothing, as if it'd never been there.
♠ Taking a quick moment to regain her bearings, a smile spread its way across Sofia's face. One of her shots must've pierced the Virus' chip. After one more brief pause to reload her gun, the Claw was quickly on her way again. One swarm was down, but there were many more roaming the canyon.
♠ This world wasn't a bad one. It wasn't the horrible place it was made out to be. She thought to herself as she scouted, keeping her eyes alert and focused despite her wandering mind. Even the majestic canyon itself and the gray sky above it looked beautiful through her the wet hair lying across her gaze. Too think, after that accident that took away her sight during her childhood, she might've never been able to see a scene like this.
♠ True, it was a dangerous world, and the cost for living was high. But...if the conversion had never happened, she never would've had a life like the one she was living now...she never would've even been able to walk or see. Perhaps its fragility only made life more precious. After all, even now...underneath the gales and rainy horizon of the canyon, she was smiling. She truly loved what she did - if she could help make the world that had given her so much a better place for everyone else here as well, that was enough for her. Feeling oddly content, she kept scanning the canyon for any signs of movement as she moved through the lower part of the area on her assigned route. Just a few more sweeps and she'd head back to headquarters.

Ace wasn't very heavy. Did he even have any weight, any matter, any being at all? Maybe not; he wasn't some kind of scientist or even remotely knowledgeable about such matters, but he was somehow applying pressure to the Beast on the mud through his boot. His tail had already pierced through the other's stomach and Ace shuddered and twitched at the pleasure of energy flow, or maybe at the prospect of his own power. It'd been quite easy to get the Beast down on his knees after a short verbal exchange. Does it make me a worse person to like to talk to someone before murdering them? he thought idly, applying more pressure on the man's chest with his boot and scanning his person for the chip that gave him life. The squirming man beneath him was a member of Antivirus, he'd learned, which was precisely the reason Ace had ventured to the Weeping Canyon despite the high number of Viruses. Antivirus members were always around, unsuspecting, careful to answer any plea for help and thinking their only enemies were viruses. "Am I your enemy?" Ace asked the man under his boot, who'd began to scream in desperation as his life force drained away. Ace pulled a knife from his coat belt and flicked it down at the man's throat; it stuck in his skin like it was meant to be placed there. The Beast made a horrible strangled noise, scream dying in his slit throat. Of course, it was regenerating, but seemingly having a hard time working around the knife, and slowed due to the Beast's lack of energy. Ace was nearly done sucking him clean-- he would have liked to end it with taking the chip, but he couldn't find it anyway. In the distance, Ace thought he heard bullets, but he had to finish off his victim. He never left one alive if he could help it, and if the source of the gunshots was only one person, well... that should be a treat instead of a problem.
After a few moments, the man died, rather unceremoniously, ungloriously for someone so dedicated to saving others. Ace gently tugged his tail out from the man's skin. It flicked side to side, shaking off rain water and whatever bodystuffs remained from the victim. Ace was rather satisfied with the haul today. Distortion had been a problem until he realized he could hide until the Viruses in an area were mostly killed by an Antivirus member, and then move in for the kill. When he looked up from the body, quite remorselessly, he checked at the sight of a Claw girl, uncertain if she was the source of the gunshots. He smiled innocently, even though it was probably too late for tricks and deceptions when he was standing triumphantly over a corpse. He probably should have grabbed the second knife while he had the time, but now he only watched her unwaveringly, twitching slightly and unwilling to turn away his attention.
"Hello," he said cautiously, tail flicking back and forth, back and forth... "I'll assume you're an Anti-virus, here to kill viruses and bring justice, safety and light back to the canyon, hm?" Right. The canyon that was eternally, perpetually raining, clouded and dark. Oh sweet, sweet mockery, how well it served him. "Oh, or here to avenge your fallen comrade, maybe? He was here for the same purpose as you, I think." He considered kicking at the body, then decided against it. Instead, with a mere snap of the wrist, he shot a burst of 55-mile wind in the girl's direction instead, hurrying off into a more densely forrested area while she was distracted. Conversation's over, now move!

♠ Sofia flicked her tail back and fourth a few times like a cat glancing around for prey. But there was nothing, the area seemed clear for the time being; with the huge amount of Viruses concentrated nearby, it would only be a matter of time before more showed up, but for now, it looked like it was about time for her to head back to base. She picked up the pace a bit, eager to head back after a long days work.
♠ But then...she stopped.
♠ Something caught her eye...there was something, no someone, nearby. Or was that two people... Wait! Her eyes widened in shock and horror as she realized what she was looking at. The fallen, drained form of one of her comrades, and another Claw that she didn't know, standing over her clearly deceased companion. Death was a common thing in this world, but in her mind, that never made seeing the demise of companion any less unpleasant.
♠ So much for a peaceful walk back. She felt her fingers wrap around her staff more tightly as she gritted her teeth, staring suspiciously at the stranger. "You...!" Her voice trailed off, but there was no need to finish - the other Claw's next words answered any question that she would've asked for her. He spoke it effortlessly, no shame, no remorse; a revoltingly casual, almost taunting tone to his voice. Her already tense grip only tightened, her nose wrinkling in disgust and rage as she stared in a state that almost resembled disbelief. It'd been a long time since she'd come across someone like him. And just like every other of those unfortunate events, it was now her duty to make sure he no longer ran free - not after what he'd done to her comrade.
♠ But he moved first. A sharp, rapid gust of wind was suddenly hurled her way, making her temporarily lose her vision and sweeping away her breath. And when she'd finally regained her bearings, he was gone. No! She wasn't going to allow him to speak like that and face no consequence.
♠ Thinking that she could hear a small amount of motion from a more forested region up ahead, she took off in that direction. As she did so, she tapped into her earth skills, commanding all the vines and roots in her immediate vicinity to raise. If she was lucky, maybe she could cause him to trip, or at least slow him down. Once she actually found him, she'd work out a better plan of attack.

Oh God, I am deliciously wicked sometimes. He thought, ducking under a branch and watching the path below him carefully as he went. Maybe he overdid it sometimes, like someone from a book, but it was so much fun and he just didn't care anymore-- or, at least, he seemed a little bit more bothered by his own affinity for being hammy and cheesy rather than the fact that he had just drained life from a man in his prime. It was worth it, anyway, to feel so renewed, so... free and energized. He felt invincible with the wet wind in his face like that. Running away through an obstructed area like this should be really--
He tripped over a root, slamming his face into a nearby tree. Oh. Oh, that was really... quite pathetic. As much as he didn't believe in any extranatural forces, or anything he couldn't see or reason, he fancied for a moment that he was getting a large heaping of karmaic revenge for being such a deliciously wicked ham to that girl. That would make such sense. It was very unbecoming for the above-it-all villain to be reduced to a sitting duck because of vines.
Which was exactly what was happening. Ace spun the knife from his coat and cut at the vines circling slowly around his foot, finding that he had to saw at the thicker ones but more and more were coming. Other than that, light and hurried footsteps were coming. He sawed at the vines as quickly and quietly as he could, a degree of panic beginning to seep into his brain. His face healed quickly as always-- had he broken his nose, maybe? Karmaic revenge indeed. Next time I won't gloat. I swear. I promise on my... life. So please angry forest help me out a little bit here.

♠ Sofia ran through the forest as fast as her legs would carry her. The vines and branches bent and shifted as she moved, forming a path for her thanks to the skill that she was keeping active in the back of her mind. Thanks to this, she could use it to both hinder his escape and aid her pursuit. Her energy was draining fast, though...she'd need to take care of it. And she knew just the person now who'd be perfect for that goal.
♠ And there he was. A certain other Claw was on the ground, slashing away at vines trying to curl up his feet. She stopped, staring down at him for just a brief moment. "If I'm going to be bringing justice, safety and light to anything at all..." She spoke, trying to mimic the same intonations he'd used on the words. "I'm afraid getting rid of you needs to be my next step." Grinning, she all at once dashed towards his direction. There was no hesitation this time. It wasn't that she liked harming others who still had humanity left in them - those who weren't Viruses - yet this boy was clearly an exception. He had no humanity left.
♠ Instead of using her gun, she instead charged him; the prongs on her tail stretched and ready to pierce. She needed energy, and as far as she was concerned, he'd pay not only for his sins, but for the fuel he'd forced her to burn. She tried to swing her tail his direction as she approached, hoping to latch onto his neck with her prongs.
