Organizations--[/font][/size] Similar to how life was in the real world, the needs and opinions of the network's inhabitants have led to the creation on several institutes and organizations. Two of the most well known and influential are the "Antivirus" (otherwise known as the Virus Defense Force, or VDF) and the Annulus Institute.

Antivirus--[/font][/size] Antivirus (sometimes referred to as the "VDF", or Virus Defense Force) is a vigilante-esq character faction that focuses on hunting, defeating, or protecting others from Viruses. Whether because they desire fame, want to be a part of a group and a purpose, or because they want justice and truly want to help and make a difference, any Leech, Beast, Siren, Hollow, or Claw may join. However, they must be prepared to risk their wellbeing and lives to help eliminate any threats that appear, and they must be ready to kill Viruses without mercy or hesitation.

Annulus Institute--[/font][/size] A character faction, the Annulus Institute is a small ring of individuals working together in the interest of mutual survival. Seeking to find a solution to the constant energy crisis slowly eating away at the virtual world, their goal is to preserve their own existence by any means necessary. Their main priority being the acquisition of energy for future stockpile and study. They obtain in a number of ways; offering their services in exchange for energy as payment, taking it from defeated criminals, and other more dubious methods. It is kept inside a large containment system. Their apparent willingness to accept the outcasts and the deranged making them somewhat infamous - forcing them to congregate in the Blank Pages on the fringes of civilization. Anyone who is willing to pledge their loyalty to the institute is free to join, however, they should be aware that they may be assigned into teams or partnerships.

It is not so much that Jessie wanted to join the VDF, rather, it was that he could find no reason why he shouldn't join when presented with the option. True, the decision may have been made in the heat of battle on the edge of a swirling Virus swarm, but his 'instinctual' actions during the crisis seemed to go along with the general principles of the organization. Not only that, 'vigilante-ism' is totally Wild West outlaw, right? ... ... ... Ahem. Will this ultimately prove to be a good decision? Only time will tell. [/size][/blockquote] |
